Grant’s Wish 5K | Galactosemia Midwest

Grant’s Wish 5K Run/Walk/Kid Fun Run will be held at the Kankakee River State Park on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. The starting and ending point will be near the large pavillion at the main park entrance where the park offices are located (off Rt. 1 02). Participants can choose to run or walk and strollers are welcomed (NO PETS PLEASE on the running trail please…welcomed on walking trail). There will be TWO SEPARATE paths for runners and walkers this year. Both follow the scenic Kankakee River. This year’s RUN trail is a bit challenging with hills and curves. The walking trail is flatter and less challenging, but still beautiful. We will kick the run off promptly at 9:00 a.m. We encourage pre- registration, but will accept walk-in registrations at 8:00 a.m. This run will be timed by a professional timer and the top runners will be awarded prizes. The Kid Fun Run (for children 5th grade and younger) will begin directly after the 5K at approximately 9:45. Participants in the 5K Run/Walk and Kid Fun Run who register before April 15 will receive a goody bag and T-Shirt.

We will also sell raffle tickets for various raffle items! Please come join us for a nice run, bring your family and pack a picnic lunch to enjoy the park after your run! The Kankakee River State Park offers fishing, canoeing, hunting, hiking, biking, play equipment for children, horse back riding and camping. Directions

From North or South on Interstate 57, Take I 57 to Exit 315 (Bradley-Bourbonnais) Take Rte. 50 south to the first stop light which is Armour Rd. Turn right on Armour Rd. and go to the 3rd stop light which is Rte. 102. Turn right (west) on Rte.102. The park is located 7 miles west on Rte. 102.

From the North on Interstate 55, Take I 55 to exit 241 (North River Road). Turn left at end of exit onto River Rd. Take River Rd. all the way to end and turn right at stop sign onto Rt. 53. Go into Wilmington. In Wilmington, turn left on Water Street (first stop light). Water Street becomes Rte 102. The park is located 10 miles east of Wilmington on Rte. 102. There are several park entrances. We will be located at the MAIN PARK enterance where the park offices are located. There is a large brown DNR sign stating “Park Offices.” This entrance is about 1.5 mi. past Warner Bridge Rd. which is a 4 way stop with flashing light you will go through on rt. 102.

From the South on Interstate 55, Take I-55 north to Dwight Exit (Rte.17). Take Rte. 17 east. Go approximately 20 miles to Warner Bridge Rd. Turn left (north) on Warner Bridge Rd. Follow this road approximately 10 miles until coming to Rte. 102. Turn right (east) on Rte. 102. The park office is located 1 1/2 miles east of Warner Bridge Rd.

I will not enter and participate unless medically and properly trained. I assume the risk associated with this event, including but not limited to falls, contact with participants, alcohol consumption, the effects of weather including high heat and/or humidity, and the conditions of the trail, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. I further grant my permission to use any photographs, videotape, motion pictures, recordings or any other record of this event. Illinois Department of Natural Resources Release of Liability the undersigned participant in the Grant's Wish 5K Run/Walk/Kid Fun Run scheduled for May 30,2015 at the Kankakee State Park covenants that he/she shall assume all risk and liability arising in conjunction with the above activities and shall save, hold, and keep harmless at all times the State of Illinois and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, its agents and employees against any loss, damage, penalty, cost and expense, judgements and decrees that may accrue or be incurred by reason of any accident, loss, wrong, injury or damage to person, life or property in or about the above reference area(s) arising out of the above described activities. Fees are non refundable. In case of inclement weather we will either reschedule or consider the entry fee a donation. By submitting my registration I attest that I have read the forgoing and certify my agreement.
